The theme is about “Creating fun and eclectic space, while maintaining a luxurious look.”

Let’s look at exploring the space with a mid- century finishing, some art pieces at strategic places, bold colour on a few walls and white colour spaces.

Most of the investment goes to the kitchen as it’ll be the primary focus of the house. This will go beyond the typical advise of placing mirrors at strategic places. Ho- hum, that is so passé…let’s move on.

1. Make your colour big

Choose 1 wall at the living hall to have a big colour while the other colour on the walls are white

This can make a narrow entry walk way feel “grand.”
The tip: Paint the walls with a standout, confident colour

2.Clean, seamless with a touch of grandness.

Most dining room comes first before the living room. The goal is simply to get out of the way to ensure the space looks bigger, . “A solid tabletop would have made the room feel small and cluttered,

Options for dining table as it’s the most obvious furniture for that area
Option 1: A custom glass top.
Option: A plain table top. Try to avoid , marble, granite, heavy looking table.
To make the dining area looks grand, pair a mid- century single pendant light. Ensuring there is an evident space between the light and the table top. This will preserve the line of sight through to the living room and balcony sliding door.

3.Choosing the right size sofa

Many like the L- Shape sofa so people laze and can stare at the T.V directly. L- shape sofa is great but it will only make the place looks heavy and cluttered.

Big if:
If you want that L- shape sofa so badly, you will have to make do without a coffee table.

Options:

  • No L-shape sofa, keep the coffee table.
  • 3 seater sofa, no coffee table but have an ottoman. Ottoman is functional, as it can be your leg rest, storage or mobile coffee table
  • Maintain a 3 seater, choose a mid- century glass coffee table and a vintage 1 seater sofa.

The style is to mix vintage, furniture, unique combinations and art come together.

For the living room setting, put a medium-to- large size painting above the sofa. Try to stay away from huge cabinets for the TV area. Opt for a clean hanging tv cabinet or loose tv cabinet.

4.Keep it clean.

“All white = clean, fresh and airy,” Choice of the open kitchen can be marble countertops or if you have a lower budget, choose white colour quartz. , subway-tiled backsplash and white spray paint cabinets.

To complement the clean, grand aesthetic, one option is to choose a “waterfall” countertop treatment for the island/ peninsular if there is one., and downlights instead of pendants. This way, one can look out directly to the living room

  1. Save space with sconces (not scones..plese forgive my puns) for rooms
When bed side table space is limited, a sconce is a no-brainer. Many designs are available at your nearest lighting shop. As we are referring to the hotel- like luxurious feel, we can opt for mid- century looking light that is evergreen and won’t go out of fashion.
Leave the small bedside tables for books, moisturiser and yr night cap.
  2. Nice frames to decorate around the bathrooms
Often neglected area for frames. Strategic placements of these frames can give a cosy bathroom.Suggested areas:
Wall in- front of you when sitted on the WC.
